Today I’m going to talk with you about accessories, trends and jewellery history, it’s nothing new that I’m interested in the history of beauty & fashion industries so I’ve teamed up with Selkietears to tell you more about accessories, some history, facts and I’ll also show you some inspirations. So please take your seat and let’s start.

Chokers
I’m sure you already know this item, it was so popular in 2016 and I think in 2017 chokers will be still popular. This little accessory can be made from different materials, they can have different colours and sizes, but I think one of the most popular ones are narrow chokers made from velvet. I’ve decided to choose pale blue choker which works well with my bag. If you think that chokers history is short you’ll be surprised, it is told that ancient civilisations used this type of necklace, but of course it looked different than current models. Through ages chokers had different significance - during French Revolution, the red ribbon was a tribute to people who were decapitated. Later this little accessory was worn by the elite but on the other hand, it also has some „bad” meanings. I was born in 90’s and every fashion trend from the west came to us later so when I was a child tattoo chokers which are popular now were also popular in 90’s. Right now this trend has no secret meaning and it was well adopted by high fashion.

Headbands
Although flower crowns look great on photoshoots I think that more balanced headbands are better for every day - they look girly and they are a great accessory for your spring outfit. Unfortunately headband’s history isn’t as known to me as choker’s history, but for me, headbands remind me of 20’s and cabaret. For me, this piece is not only great for weddings but also for photo shoots and every day. There are various types of headbands - I really like this black one because it’s well made and it looks fantastic but if you’re planning to get married soon the white headband will be great for you. If you want something classic then check the black one with pompoms.

Rings
This one has a long history - the roots of rings are in ancient times. But do you know why usually* people are putting their wedding ring on a fourth finger of the left hand? It was believed that this finger is connected to the vena amoris - the vein of love. Right now from what I’ve heard - it’s one big hoax. *Usually - in different countries there are different traditions, in some countries you can wear engagement rings on left hand, in other - on the right hand. Personally, I never know which hand is the „right” one. There are many different types of rings, for me personally this little accessory is way more comfortable to wear than anything other even though - when I play instruments I have to take them off because it’s not comfortable to play with rings or long nails.

Piercing & Ear Jewellery
What’s great about Selkietears - you can find there not only handmade chokers and headbands but also piercing & ear jewellery. You can see many different items from this „section” - septum rings and pompom earrings are my favourite. Fact for you - ear piercing is a type of piercing with the longest history, earrings can be made from different materials.
