The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow-Revealing Liquid Peel

I'm trying every possible way to remove all the dark spots and acne scars from my face - of course, I'm talking about all the affordable products which I can use at home. When I've heard that The Body Shop has released Liquid Peel series and they are looking for testers I've signed up and today I'm going to share my thoughts about this product.

Couple words about brand
The Body Shop is a brand owned by L'oreal. The first Body Shop store was open in 1976 in the UK. In 2006, the brand has changed its owner and it came to countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland and Russia. Right now you can find this brand in over 60 countries. The brand stands for many social and environmental issues such as animal testing (I'll talk about it later). 

Packaging
Normal bottle with a pump. I like the fact that they added a lock which is a good thing if you travel a lot, I'm happy that brands have started to add additional solutions to keep our product safe and fresh for longer.

Skin Type
This product should work for every skin type.

Ingredients
Aqua/Water/Eau, Alcohol Denat., Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Carbomer, PPG-26-Buteth-26, Palmitamidopropyltrimonium Chloride, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Quaternium-80, Parfum/Fragrance, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Mel/Honey/Miel, Limonene, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetrimonium Chloride, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal, Isopropyl Alcohol, Linalool, Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract.

First place is reserved for Water. Then we've got Alcohol Denat also known as Ethanol - it might work as a cleanser but it's also a substance that boosts other ingredients. Propylene Glycol - another booster in this combination. Glycerin - moisturiser, it might be comedogenic for you but it doesn't mean that every skin will have to this ingredient the same reaction. Carbomer - thickener, PPG-26-Buteth-26 - for sure you're scared of it, but it's comedogenic ingredient, it makes our skin more elastic and it gives us the smell. Palmitamidopropyltrimonium Chloride - the name is very hard, but this ingredient is good for our skin and even better for our hair. PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil - detergent & emulsifier, not good for our skin. Quaternium-80 - another substance which is very popular in hair products, you don't have to be scared of it, it's a safe substance. Parfum - it gives a smell to the product, usually, it's a synthetic substance and it's not the best ingredient.
3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid - this substance is making skin brighter, this ingredient is related to Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C). Honey - a natural substance, good for acne-prone skin and it's also an antioxidant. Behentrimonium Chloride - another detergent, it makes skin clear. Cetrimonium Chloride - keeps the bacteria away from the product. Isopropyl Alcohol - preservative, it can make your skin cleaner but it's also not the best substance for our skin. Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract also called Camu-Camu, it has more vitamin C than a lemon. It'll make our skin brighter.
Ingredients that gives us the smell: Limonene, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal and Linalool, remember that some people can have an allergy to these ingredients.

Smell & Texture
The smell is delicate and it reminds me of lemons. The texture is funny, it's a gel but with time it starts to "exfoliate" - you can see a lot of little bits on your skin and it's not a skin, it's always a product but after a couple uses you'll see the difference in amount of little dirty chunks peeling off of your face.

How does it work for me
I must admit that it works. My skin became brighter after every use, maybe not my pigmentations because I can see them still but the skin is definitely brighter and it looks healthier. I use it 2 times per week, I've started to use it also on my arms and I can see the difference on them too. It's a very delicate product, I can't feel any itching and pain while using it even if it smells like a high concentration of vitamin C. I got no allergic reaction and that's a big plus for the product. If it comes to comedogenic ingredients - my skin doesn't react to glycerin so I can't see any relation between this product and my acne.
What I saw is that after 2 weeks my product started to be harder in use - all I had to do is remove a small bit of gel from the pump and it was working the same as before. I want to mention the tiny bits - I know that some people might feel like their skin is peeling or that it's a marketing game but guess what? I like to see these bits even if it's not the easiest thing to wash off my face. I'm not satisfied with ingredients but on the other hand thanks God, I can't see Phenoxyethanol which I see almost everywhere.

Additional Information
According to The Body Shop, all their products are not tested on animals, I know that the situation is not clear due to their mother's brand L'oreal selling in China but I think that animal testing is a very sensitive topic and it's your decision which brands you prefer to use, in my opinion, it's good that brands want to change something on this topic and maybe who knows - in couple years the whole industry will use the alternative ways to test their products.

Sum up
It's a good and mild product for skin brightening with a lovely scent. I really like the feeling of this product on my skin even if the ingredients might not be the best. Will I go back to this product after this bottle? I'm not sure, I want to test the green version of liquid peel because I think it works a little bit different. For sure, it's an interesting product and I hope that soon I'll find more products like that.

Kiedy usłyszałam, że The Body Shop wprowadził serię produktów Liquid Peel i szukają testerów to wiedziałam, że muszę się zgłosić. Dzisiaj podzielę się z Wami moimi przemyśleniami nt. tego produktu.

Kilka słów o marce
The Body Shop to marka należąca do firmy L’oreal. Pierwszy sklep The Body Shop w Anglii został otworzony w roku 1976. W 2006 roku marka zmieniła właściciela oraz pojawiła się w krajach takich jak Czechy, Rosja oraz… Polska. Obecnie produkty TBS znajdziemy w ponad 60 krajach, a sama firma bierze aktywny udział w pracach na rzecz społeczeństwa i środowiska takich jak zaprzestanie testowania na zwierzętach (o czym wspomnimy na końcu).

Opakowanie
Zwyczajna butelka z pompką. Bardzo podoba mi się to, że firma dodała blokadę, która jest dobrym dodatkiem jeśli podróżujecie. Cieszy mnie fakt, że więcej firm wprowadza takie rozwiazanie, dzięki czemu produkty pozostają bezpieczne i świeże przez długi czas.

Typ cery
Produkt jest odpowiedni na każdy typ cery.

Skład

Na pierwszym miejscu znajdziemy wodę, a następnie Alcohol Denat czyli Etanol, który działa jako oczyszczacz, ale jest również substancją, która podbija działanie produktu. Propylene Glycol to kolejny składnik, który ma wzmocnić skuteczność produktu. Glycerin (gliceryna) to nawilżacz, u niektórych osób składnik ten może zadziałać komedogennie, ale nie oznacza to, że każda cera tak zareaguje. Carbomer (karbomer) - zagęstnik, PPG-26-Buteth-26 - pewnie przeraża was nazwa tej substancji, jednak jest to dobra substancja, która sprawia, że cera jest bardziej elastyczna, a dodatkowo nadaje zapach. Palmitamidopropyltrimonium Chloride - mi również język łamie się na tej nazwie, ale ten składnik jest również dobry dla cery, a nawet jeszcze lepiej działa na włosy. PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil - detergent i emulgator, nie jest to dobry składnik dla skóry. Quaternium-80 to kolejna substancja, głównie bije rekordy popularności w produktach do włosów, nie musimy się jej bać, jest bezpieczna. Parfum czyli esencja zapachowa, zazwyczaj jest ona syntetycznym zapachem i nie zawsze może być to bezpieczna kompozycja. 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid - ta substancja rozjaśnia cerę, składnik ten jest powiązany z witaminą C czyli kwasem askorbinowym. Honey (miód) to naturalna substancja, która działa na cerę trądzikową. Jest to również antyoksydant. Behentrimonium Chloride - kolejny detergent, który sprawia, że cera jest czysta. Cetrimonium Chloride - substancja, która chroni produkt przed bakteriami. Isopropyl Alcohol - konserwant, odpowiada za oczyszczanie cery jednak nie jest to najlepszy wybór dla zdrowia. Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract czyli to słynne Camu-Camu, zawiera więcej witaminy C niż cytryna, sprawia że cera staje się jaśniejsza.
Substancje zapachowe w tym składzie to Limonene, Benzyl Salicylate, Hexyl Cinnamal i Linalool, należy pamiętać, że są osoby, które mogą mieć alergię na te składniki.

Zapach i konsystencja
Produkt ma delikatny zapach, który przypomina mi cytryny. Tekstura produktu jest zabawna, to żel, który po czasie zaczyna się łuszczyć - dosłownie możecie zobaczyć małe drobinki na waszej skórze, które nie są skórą! To produkt, jednak im dalej w las, im dłużej go stosujecie tym mniej brudnych farfocli pojawi się na waszej twarzy.

Jak produkt działa na mnie
Muszę przyznać, że produkt działa! Moja cera jest jaśniejsza już po kilku użyciach, może nie zauważam zmian z przebarwieniami, ponieważ nadal je widzę na cerze, ale za to skóra jest rozświetlona i wygląda zdrowiej. Po produkt sięgam 2 razy w tygodniu, zaczęłam go nawet stosować na rękach i również tutaj widzę różnicę. To bardzo delikatny produkt, nie czuje ani swędzenia ani bólu przy użyciu, pomimo że zapach sugeruje, że koncentracja witaminy C jest tak wysoka, że może zaboleć. Nie miałam również reakcji alergicznych na produkt, co dla mnie jest wielkim plusem. Jeśli chodzi o komedogenność to moja cera nie reaguje na glicerynę, nie zauważyłam jej wpływu na trądzik na mojej skórze.
Co zaobserwowałam, po 2 tygodniach pompka zaczęła ciężej chodzić, okazało się, że dzióbek zapchał się z deka żelem, wyciągnięcie starego żelu z dzióbka nie było ciężkie, zajęło może 2 sekundy i pompka powróciła do pracy pełną parą. Zwrócę uwagę jeszcze na te małe, łuszczące się drobiny - wiem, że niektóre osoby uznają je za złuszczony naskórek, a inne uznają to za marketingowe zagranie. Osobiście uwielbiam te drobiny, taki ze mnie psychol - po prostu sprawiają one, że czuje się z nimi lepiej, pomimo że zmycie ich z twarzy do łatwych zadań nie należy. Nie jestem zadowolona ze składu produktu, ale z drugiej strony cieszy mnie, że w produkcie nie ma Phenoxyethanolu, który ostatnio widzę niemalże wszędzie.

Dodatkowe informacje
Marka The Body Shop podaje, że nie testują produktów na zwierzętach. Wiem, że dla wielu osób sprawa ta nie jest do końca jasna ze względu, że TBS należy do L’oreal - firmy, która sprzedaje swoje produkty w Chinach. Wiem, że testy na zwierzętach to bardzo wrażliwy temat i jest to tylko Wasza decyzja jakich marek używacie. Według mnie w całej sytuacji dobre jest to, że są firmy, które zwracają uwagę na testowanie na zwierzętach i chcą podnieść świadomość wśród konsumentów - kto wie, może za kilka lat cały przemysł kosmetyczny zacznie korzystać z alternatywnych rozwiązań co do testów produktów.

Podsumujmy
To dobry i delikatny produkt do rozjaśniania cery z bardzo ładnym zapachem. Lubię używać go na mojej bardzo kusi mnie zielona wersja produktu, ponieważ wydaje mi się, że ma trochę inne działanie. Produkt jest interesujący i przyznam, że czekam aż inne marki zaczną sprzedawać podobne produkty.
