One day I've decided to check all my wardrobe where I keep all my beauty products - I've ended up with about 50 different face masks - from various sheet masks, through clay mask to the lip and sleeping masks. I've decided to show you some types of masks and tell you more about them. This post is a beginning of the series related to face masks - homemade and the one which you can find at the shop.

Types of masks
Right now we can find many different types of masks in unusual forms such. As long as wash-offs and peel-offs are pretty regular for us, some of the new forms are injection/shot masks or even splash mask. Let me introduce you to some of the forms of the face masks.

Ampoule mask
This form of the mask might be scary for some of you because it can look like a syringe but you shouldn't be scared. It's a sheet mask wrapped up in a different form. Some ampoule masks are just wrapped like a standard cellulose sheet. Usually, they contain ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, peptide, collagen, adenosine, propolis, ceramide and etc in high concentration - the same ingredients as we can see in ampoules.
TRY: The Tonymoly Megatox Ampoule Mask

Capsule mask/pack
It's a little pack of the mask - about 10g of product, it's a good amount for 1-4 uses. The capsule contains a wash-off mask, peel-off mask, clay mask or even a face scrub.
TRY: Innisfree Capsule Recipe Pack Red Kiwi

Carbonated mask
One of the trends from previous years - bubble mask. The mask looks pretty normal but once you put it on your face it'll start to bubble. This process is possible due to the presence of the ingredients called perfluorocarbons.
TRY: Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask

Carbonated sheet mask
These masks are similar to carbonated masks but the form is different - this time it's a sheet mask which you don't have to wash off your face and it contains the same ingredients called perfluorocarbons.
TRY: Skin79 Rice Bubble Cleansing Mask

Clay mask
One of the most popular types of masks are clay masks - they were popular for hundreds of times and they contain lots of minerals. They have many different colours and you can mix them on your own or buy a pre-made one.
TRY: Korres Natural Clay Deep Cleansing Mask

Foil mask
Nope, you're right - it's a sheet mask that looks like a cheap Halloween C-3PO costume. It's not a discovery - they are made from foil. It's nothing different than a sheet mask.
TRY: Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery PowerFoil Mask

Gel mask
The wash-off mask in a very light, gel formula.
TRY: Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask

Hydrogel mask
A sheet mask made of an essence or a serum in a gel form, they are better moisturisers than cellulose sheet masks.
TRY: Caolion Freshly Hydro Sheet Mask

Injection/shot mask
If you're afraid of needless you don't have to worry - you won't stick your needles in your glorious face. This mask has two parts - a shot of a highly concentrated ampoule, serum or booster in a form of syringe and a sheet mask. All you have to do is mix two parts and put the sheet on your face.
TRY: THE OOZOO Face Injection Illumination Mask

Mud mask
Now you'll ask me - what's the difference between mud mask and clay mask? The difference is not that big and you can find different definitions of the differences in both - some specialists say that the difference sits in minerals, other that both of these masks come from different places.
TRY: Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask

Mud sheet mask
A mud mask in a sheet mask form. This type of sheet mask is a wash-off mask - you have to peel the sheet and then wash your face because the rest of the mud will stay on it.
TRY: TonyMoly Earth Beauty Mask Sheet

Peel off mask
The most painful mask you'll ever try. Some of these masks are very enjoyable, others - not. Many people are using them to remove blackheads from the nose but it's not always the best idea.

Pore pack
This mask type it's the best treatment for pores, it's a safer way to remove blackheads than peel offs.
TRY: Neogen Code9 Glacial Magic Pore Mask

Rubber pack
A gummy modelling mask which is very easy to peel off and it doesn't hurt.
TRY: Lindsay Modeling Rubber Mask

Rubber sheet mask
You will love it or hate it - it might not be the cutest sheet mask you'll ever try but it is a very popular mask right now! You get an essence which you have to put on your face and then you cover it with a rubber sheet.
TRY: Dr Jart+'s Hydration Lover Rubber Mask

Sheet mask
Usually, it's a cellulose mask soaked in powerful essence, this type of mask can have different forms like hydrogel form, foil form or rubber form.

Other masks
There are some types of masks which we can count as a masks or patches related to face even if they are related to eyes, nose, face shape or even spot treatment.

Acne patch

Lip mask - sleeping pack
For me, sleeping packs for lips were just a bulls*it... until I've tried one. You have to put this mask overnight on your lips and the next day your lips won't be dry.
TRY: Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Lip patch
A sheet mask for your lips - it can be a cellulose mask or hydrogel mask.
TRY: TonyMoly Kiss Kiss Lovely Lip Patch

Where's the peeling mask?
I didn't want to include peeling mask in this post because for me peeling masks are more like exfoliators than face masks.
