I can admit - Kbeauty has changed my skin for better but it doesn't mean that I have no skin problems. It helped me understand my skin and body. I've got some comments and messages to show some routines for different skin types and skin concerns. Obviously, each skin is different - not everyone will react the same to one routine - you have to build it on your own. But today I want to tell you some myths and truths about 10-step skincare.

Are 10 steps too much or not enough?
It's hard to say if it's too much or not enough - each skin is different but the fact is that some steps should be used once or twice in a week or less and some skips are necessary. I've tried to build different skin routines - once I was using a skin routine based on only 4-5 products and other time I've used over 15 products in general to find the perfect routine. The one problem is that I've used 4-5 product based routine in a very calm time, and 15 products in a time where I was really stressed and nothing worked for me. There's no recipe for perfect skin. So the answer to this question is - it depends on your skin.

Is skincare just all about beauty products?
Something that I've learned when I was told at the hospital that I've got the coeliac disease - skincare is not only about beauty products but it's also about our lifestyle, health and environment. Lots of skin problems are related to health problems - for example, chin acne is a very typical thing for hormonal acne and if you can spot acne on your chin it's a sign to check hormone balance. If you've got a stressful job or if you're stress before an important exam - the stress won't help your skin or your body and acne it's a way in which body tries to remove the whole stress out. So the answer is simple - no, beauty products are just a part of skincare.

Are all AB products cruelty-free?
Unfortunately, it's not true. The fact is that from 2018 animal testing will be banned in Korea and from October 2019 animal testing is going to be banned in Taiwan. Japan has no regulations related to animal testing but the main problem is with China. There are some brands that ***claim*** to be cruelty-free like Klairs or By Wishtrend (both brands are related to Wishcompany). Outin Futures - the owner of Neogen and RE:P has a Leaping Bunny Certificate and you can see this information on all RE:P products. Brands such as Missha or Innisfree shouldn't be considered as cruelty-free due to one reason - they sell their products in China = they accept Chinese law. I won't tell you too much about this topic but I encourage you to check this post on crueltyfreekitty.

Can you build a good AB routine based on Western products?
Yes! Even if some types of products are still hard to find (like essences) on the European or American market, you can still build a good skincare routine based on Western products.

Couple words on buying items from unknown websites - do fake kbeauty products really exist?
Yes, they do! It's not like only expensive brands are replicated, cheap brands are being replicated too. The main things which we should remember - don't buy cosmetics on Aliexpress or similar sites. You never know what's inside these products. If you check the news - almost every day there are some news about fake goods. Some Chinese products are looking almost the same as Korean ones, the only difference is the name of the brand - lots of products aren't safe for our skin, they might be full of bacteria so instead of buying very cheap copycat buy an original product. Is better to spend more than buying something and then cure your skin after a use of the harmful product - and believe me balancing your skin after bacteria can take a long time.

Is every Asian beauty product full of brightening and whitening ingredients?
Nope, although you can find lots of products with brightening and whitening ingredients, it's not like every product is full in brighteners. We also have to see the difference between brightening and whitening. Whitening products are used for pigmentation and dark spots while brightening products can be used for dull skin to make it more alive.

Are Korean beauty products all about nature?
The answer is not really. Lots of products contain ingredients such as perfume or PEGs but you can find products with very safe ingredients. The only thing which I have to admit - usually Asian brands are using natural ingredients as a base for their products or whole lines. I think that the good example is Innisfree - their Green Tea Serum might not be flawless but if you check other lines such as Blueberry series you can find very good products free from PEG's and harmful substances.

Couple words on plastic surgeries - are they really a thing?
Yes, plastic surgeries are popular but we also have to remember that there's also a thing called "medical tourism" and it's popular all around the world, not only in Asian countries even if Thailand and South Korea are probably the most popular places for plastic surgeries besides Venezuela. Also, don't believe everything you see, it's not like everyone is born pretty with perfect genes, sometimes even a small botox treatment can change a lot.

Are Asian foundations/bb & cc creams/cushions only for pale skin?
No. Even if lots of shades are really pale there's a range of products for darker skin tones such as SkinFood Peach Sake Pore BB No 8 or Laneige BB Cushion Dark. Sometimes even if your skin is very pale it's hard to find a perfect match. Everything depends on brands and how big is their colour range.

Are humidifiers popular?
That's a question which I can't answer yet but I feel like this question might be true. Humidifiers are great for people with allergies, breathing problems or problems with sinuses in general.
I'm not sure if people really use humidifiers at work for beauty purposes but I assume that there might be quite a big amount of people who use them for health purposes. I feel like it's truer that people are using humidifiers due to pollution than due to beauty purposes.

Are sunscreens necessary? Do we really need to use it every day?
Let's start with one thing - skincare shouldn't be a compulsion, it's should be considered as a fun or relax. It's a time only for you. I do recommend using sunscreens or even reapplying them not only in the summer but also in the winter. Even if you can see they sun on the sky - we still need a protection.

Are AB products full of new and unknown ingredients?
They are full of unique ingredients, sometimes unknown for Western products but they are also based on traditional ingredients. Even Neogen's products are based on new technologies as well as on ingredients known from Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Is it good to use one or more sheet masks every day?
Chinese actress Fan Bingbing is using over 600 sheet masks per year, that gives about 2 sheet masks per day. She looks awesome and for sure sheet masks aren't bad for our skin but I think that moderation is a key to success. If you don't know your skin very well using wrong sheet masks in a big number per week might be ineffective.

Do men in Asian countries care about skincare more than in Europe or America?
I think that men, in general, started to care more about skin and body than before. I've got lots of friends from different countries who go to the gym, uses perfumes or even acne treatment. But I still know guys who say that even prescription drugs for acne are only for ladies. There's a thing which we have to admit - thanks to pop culture skincare and makeup for men is more acceptable than even 5 years ago, the truth is that in Ancient times makeup wasn't only for ladies.

Are kbeauty products better than prescription drugs?
Not really. Some skin problems can be only cured with prescription drugs. It's not like kbeauty it's a remedy for every problem in the world. I can't say that every dermatologist is right because my luck was pretty bad and I've checked over 10 dermatologists in my whole life - only one was great - she didn't only helped me with my skin but she also helped me with one choice in my life. If your dermatologist is a good specialist then you should listen to this person. I always advise that before you start to cure your skin problem you should check hormone, allergies, blood test and thyroid function test. Skin problems might be related to serious health problems.

Are oil-based cleansers bad for oily skin?
Oil-based cleansers are not bad if the ingredients of the products are matched to your skin - there's no allergens or comedogenic substances. Pure oils as cleansers aren't the best option but oil-based cleansers can help you.
