As a very pale person, I've got one biggest problem with my skin - all the dark pigmentations spots, freckles and post-acne scars are seen on my skin like a dark paint on white canvas. I've heard many recommendations of this products and finally, I've decided to get it too. But is it really as good as people say?
Couple words about brand
Alpha-H is an Australian brand made over 20 years ago by Michelle Doherty. This brand got several beauty awards.
Packaging
The design of the packaging looks luxurious to me. I don't really care about this paper box but what's the most important - double closing of the product - it's a very important thing if it comes to acid treatments and any products that contain acids.
Skin Type
For mature, ageing, sun damaged or acne-scarred skin.
Ingredients
Aqua, Alcohol Denat, Glycolic Acid (5%), Glycerin, Hydrolyzed Silk, Potassium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra Extract.
I'm sure that it's not a surprise for you - water if first. Then we've got Alcohol Denat also known as Ethanol, it might work as a cleanser and toner but it's also a substance that boosts other ingredients. Glycolic Acid (5%) - chemical exfoliator. You can find it in fruits such as apples or grapes, in a low concentration it's a good moisturiser and it works for pigmentation. Glycerin - moisturiser, some people might get comedogenic reactions to this ingredient. Hydrolyzed Silk works not only as a moisturiser but it's an another brightener. Potassium Hydroxide - pH regulator, Phenoxyethanol - a preservative, not good for our health. Caprylyl Glycol - oily emollient, good moisturiser, it gives us a balance in this combination. Glycyrrhiza Glabra Extract - liquorice extract, it makes skin brighter but it also helps with regenerating.
Smell & Texture
The smell is not the best one, you can see ethanol in the ingredients so as I like to joke "Don't drink it, it's not a vodka even if it smells like one". It's a liquid which you have to use with a makeup pad.
How does it work for me?
Let's start with a fact that this product costs a lot - I wouldn't buy it but I've heard so many good words about it. I wasn't sure if I want to get it because of the Alcohol and Phenoxyethanol in it, but on the other way - Cosrx AHA/BHA toners are too weak for me in my opinion. First weeks wasn't the easiest one - I've started to have a lot of dry places on my face and I needed to moisturise my skin, hopefully, sheet masks have helped me. With time my skin got used to it and I've started to see some changes but honestly - I don't get why people are so obsessed with this product - it's a good product, I'm using it for 2 months and I still have over 3/4 of the product. I've tried it on my arms too and honestly, I see more changes on my skin where I'm using vitamin C serum than on my arms (I put on my arms only Liquid Gold). I've got very mixed feelings about this product. The best thing in this product is removing dirt from pores it's easier - I'm waiting over 20 minutes after I use this toner and then I'm using my tools to cleanse my pores.
Additional Information
This product is not suitable for vegans & vegetarians (one of the ingredients is a silk). You should use this product every two days, I use it more often, but it's your choice how often do you use it. I recommend to use it as a part of night routine, don't forget about sunscreens while using it.
Sum up
For sure it's a very interesting product but I'm very hyped about it. I feel like the price is good because this amount of product will last me for couple months or maybe even a year but I'm not sure if it'll still work after a year. Will I buy another bottle? I can't decide yet.
