The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Refreshingly Purifying Cleansing Hair Scrub hair scrub scalp scrub

For ages, I was fighting with my oily hair - I had no idea that my hair problem is related to the hair follicles. I used trial and error method - I used different shampoos without SLS and other chemical ingredients, I've tried medical products, I've tried harsh shampoos that dried out my hair and washed my hair colour completely and accidentally when I was shopping for body scrub I've found a new product from The Body Shop called Fuji Green Tea Refreshingly Purifying Cleansing Hair Scrub.

The History Of The Body Shop

The Body Shop is quite a controversial brand - you can love it or hate it but the main problem with this brand was the fact that it was owned by L'oreal but 2017 was quite a happy year, now brand is owned by Brazilian brand called Natura, the brand went back to their roots and even started a cruelty-free campaign. Some of the products sold by the brand are vegan free, the hair scrub which I'm showing you today is 100% Vegetarian-friendly.

Don't be surprised with the packaging, the jar is plastic even if it looks like a glass, on the one hand, I wish the packaging would be glass but when I use the product in my bathroom and I keep them in the corner of my bathtub then plastic is a safer option. The smell of the product is really fresh if you're familiar with Fuji Green Tea series then you know how delicate the scent can be, there is some refreshing aroma in it but is it a smell of Fuji?

Let's look inside!

I know that there are many schools of washing hair but I do what my hairdresser told me couple years ago - scrubs and shampoos are for the scalp, hair masks and conditioners are for rest of the hair. The texture of scrub might feel weird when you use it for the first time - the main ingredient Sodium Chloride is also known as Sea Salt, the bits of salt are different - some bits are tiny and some bits are big and hard. You'll need a small bit of this scrub and mix it with a little amount of water to make it easier to spread, I like to put small bits in 4 different places on my scalp and them clean my hair. Even if this product contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate, a surfactant and foaming agent - I cannot make a foam. But SLS it's not the only ingredient which might be problematic for some customers - this product contains Phenoxyethanol, Parfum, PEG-100 Stearate, CI 19140/Yellow 5 and CI 42090/Blue 1.

The Power Of Green Tea, Honey & Menthol

I can admit that I'm a fan of green tea and Fuji Green Tea is one of my favourite TBS series I've ever tried but the one thing that makes me sad about this scrub is how low Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract - a Green Tea Leaf Extract is on the ingredient's list. Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract is a source of Vitamin C but it's also an antioxidant. The whole magic of this ingredient is in its properties, it's a unique ingredient that fits young and adult skin, it can help with acne and wrinkles. The antibacterial and sanitizing functions of this ingredient work splendidly on the scalp. Another ingredient that producer is so proud of is Honey - it's a Community Trade Honey from Ethiopia, the only sad thing about it is the fact that this ingredient is accompanied by PEG or colourants but let's focus on Honey. It's another antibacterial and antifungal ingredient. It can help with skin regeneration, I know that honey seems to be sticky and heavy but in a good companionship it can make a miracle. The secret of freshness lies in Menthol, the properties of the ingredient is similar to other main stars of this product - it's antibacterial and antiseptic ingredient.

How did I win the unfair fight with oily hair?

What's so amazing about this product? Even if the ingredients aren't flawless somehow this product won against organic products, dermatological product and professional hair shampoos. Before I had to wash my hair even twice... A DAY! It's not healthy, and leaving my hair unwashed for couple days didn't help, sometimes I was woking up with hair full of oil right now I can easily spend 2 days without washing my hair and the colour on my hair seems to last longer than usual. If you have a similar problem with hair then hair scrub might be a choice for you and it doesn't have to be this scrub, I'm aware that availability of this product can be a disadvantage because in some countries TBS sells its products only in local stores in selected cities, the product costs about 18€ for 240ml and this one jar should be enough for at least 6 months. When I started to use this product, I used it twice a week with a shampoo, right now I use it instead of shampoo and it was a better choice for me.

As you can see sometimes the solution to the problem lies in good diagnose and understanding of your own skin and the most unexpected way to deal with the problem might be the right one. Do you use hair scrubs?
