Usually, our evening skincare routines are ending on moisturizers but there's one additional step which you can add to your routine - a sleeping mask. So why don't make this step green and full of ingredients that can make us calm before going to sleep? My key to good skin and skin moisture is RE:P Nutrinature Ultra All-Night Moisture & Relief Mask - a green k-beauty sleeping mask and probably the only Korean brand with Leaping Bunny Certificate.
Why RE:P?
If you're reading Kherblog regularly then you might remember RE:P Bio Fresh Mask With Real Calming Herbs review. If you're new then RE:P stand for Real Elemental Practise, it's a cruelty-free vegan K-beauty brand with Leaping Bunny Certificate (if you want to verify this info - search for Outin Futures, the mother company of Neogen and RE:P). The main idea behind the brand is to make products similar to nature without making any harm so you shouldn't be surprised to see BHT or parabens in RE:P products.
It's all about scent and a good sleep
The main reason why I want to go back to RE:P all the time is the scent, sometimes it feels too heavy but usually, with time I start to miss it and go back to it. I'm sensitive to smell but there's one scent I really like - herbs like ginseng, basil, ginger, etc. I can't deny you can love herbal scents or not and I believe that some people might have this problem with the scent, for example - my mom literally hates when I use it because she can smell it even after 10 minutes but with time she stopped telling me that she can smell it so I feel like the nose might need some introduction to the scent. One of the thing that I saw is that this mixture of natural oils and extracts can be helpful if you have a problem with sleeping. I'm the worst if it comes to sleep - I love to have my 8 hours of sleep per day but lately, it's impossible to me to get even an (unhealthy) 6-hour long sleep without any anxiety or waking up every 3 minutes because of noises, but I feel like this mask is really making me calm and it helps me get some good sleep even if the first time I've smelled it I thought that no way I can sleep surrounded by so heavy herbal scent.
What's inside the mask?
RE:P is a brand focused on natural ingredients so you shouldn't be surprised by the number of natural herbal extracts which probably might be new to you, I'm sure that you'll notice Alcohol Denat on 4th place, but 2 first places are the most important for us - Water & Glycerin, Alcohol is still quite high but it's in smaller amount and in this case, it can be more beneficial than harsh since Alcohol can help with transporting ingredients to get through the skin surface but it also protect product from bad stuff like bacteria.
Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol Denat, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Dimethicone, Niacinamide, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Seed Extract, Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Mentha Rotundifolia Leaf Extract, Artemisia Annua Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Symphytum Officinale Leaf Extract, Helichrysum Arenarium Extract, Azadirachta Indica Leaf Extract, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata (Lichen) Extract, Melissa Officinalis Flower/Leaf/Steam Water, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Water, Calendula Officinalis Flower Water, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Triticum Spelta Seed Water, Adenosine, Ammonium, Acryloyldimethyltaurate/VP Copolymer, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Gardenia Blue Color, Safflower Yellow, Fragrance
There are lots of interesting ingredients like Niacinamide - a skin brightening ingredient or Adenosine - a brightening antioxidant. But let's focus on Lemon Balm, Apple Mint, Tea Tree, Basil, Olive Oil because these ingredients are worth mentioning according to the brand. Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract also known as Lemon Balm is a calming plant - it can calm both your skin and mind, it can be also beneficial for acne-prone skin since it moderates sebum production. Apple Mint is nothing else than Mentha Rotundifolia Leaf Extract, it's an aromatic plant with anti-inflammatory and cooling properties, this plant has a long tradition since it was used by ancient Greeks to revitalize the skin during the bath. I feel like I do not have to introduce you to Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Extract, Tea Tree Extract is an antibacterial ingredient that works well on acne-prone skin. Basil - Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Seed Extract - seems to be not a popular ingredient in the skincare products, it's a masking ingredient with antiseptic properties. Olive Oil - Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil can be a small surprise but personally, I like this natural emollient a lot. Olive Oil is making skin smooth and bit oily in a good, protective and moisturizing way. In general, the formulation is nice, there are some ingredients like Fragrance and Phenoxyethanol that might be not your favourite. My only problem is Glyceryl Stearate SE and Stearic Acid which can be comedogenic so I don't use it at a particular time of the month if I'm aware that my skin can get clogged easily.
Do you use it every day?
You can use sleeping masks every day but for my combo skin that would be too much - unless my skin is very dehydrated then sleeping mask is a must even every day, you can skip moisturizer and use a sleeping mask but personally, I like to use it twice or thrice a week, depends on my skin condition. If your skin is dry then using the sleeping mask every day can work better for you than for combo skin but it's very personal thing since every skin is different and will react differently to the product. I can share one tip with you - if you have problems with sleep then use a small amount on your wrist.
Is it affordable?
This mask costs 32$ for 100ml, after a month of using I feel like I used maybe 1 to max 5 ml of the mask, I do not use it every day but small amounts of the mask are enough to cover the entire face and neck. During the summer this mask can be even more beneficial since it's making the skin cooler and radiant. You can get RE:P Nutrinature Ultra All-Night Moisture & Relief Mask on Sokoglam.
How do you like this mask? Do you use sleeping masks or not?
