Do you know what does the word 'rouge' means? It's a French word which we use instead of a word 'blush' and that means nothing else than a colour name 'red'. It has some sense since in China red colour symbolizes luck. The blush I'm trying today might not be red but I still hope that Lily Lolo Mineral Blush Rosy Apple still will give me lots of luck. Let me introduce this product to you
Mineral, safe formula
Mica, Silica [+/- CI 77491 (Iron Oxide), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide)]
Lily Lolo's formulas are outstanding - we can't deny the ingredients are kept very minimalistic and the formulas are free from parabens or artificial colourants and perfumes. Lily Lolo blush is vegan-friendly which I think is an important thing worth a mention. There are only four ingredients in the formula. Mica is a mineral pigment that reflects light so this ingredient won't only give you a pigment that matches with the complexion but it also should make your pores less visible while wearing a makeup and it shouldn't make wrinkles more visible. Silica is a mineral form of quartz. It absorbs the sebum, makes the skin feels soft and it reflects the light.
Besides these two ingredients, we can find here natural pigments - Titanium Dioxide and Iron Oxide.
Like silk - silky feeling on the skin
What makes the difference is this silk-like feeling on the skin when you use this blush. It's something that chemical blushes can't be really compared to! The formula is so light that you can't really feel it on the skin and even if you accidentally touch the skin the difference is easy to find.
Is it pink or brown?
The shade of this colour is more on a brown side, I would ever say that it's a blend of pink and brown what makes it more interesting. This shade can really surprise you but we will discuss that later. I believe that this colour is so unique that not everyone will love it and feel well in it. It's a shade that can be really useful if you plan to take makeup photos since cameras and editing programs usually make the colours less visible on the photos.
Shine bright like a diamond
Lily Lolo has matte blushes and shimmer blushes. This one is not only shimmer but also silky. It makes the skin look healthier. Depends on the skin tone and amount used on the cheek it'll look different but shimmer will be the same on every skin.
Layers and artistic effects
I said that before - this blush is a must-have if you're a makeup artist or you love makeup or even if you're a photographer. It looks awesome in different lighting but there's also a trick. If you're very pale just like me then use small amounts because this blush is so intensive that a tiny bit can make a difference. For darker skin tones the difference might be slight and you might have to use more of the blush than on pale skin.
More like a bronzer?
The shade is a blend of pink and brown, on some skin tones this blush might work better as a bronzer. I wouldn't try to contour my entire face with it because it's bit shiny but I used it to contour my cheekbones and it did a job.
Fits different skin tones
Rosy Apple has a netural undertone which makes it universal for all skin tones. No matter if you're warm, cold or neutral - it's a choice you can go wrong with. Pale skin or dark skin - it still looks good. But even if it says "it's neutral" still personal preferences might make you feel not comfortable with it if you usually go for coral shades.
Make a lipstick out of it
What's cool in minerals? You can mix them and make a new product! You can mix it with a clear gloss and make a new product of it like a lipstick or eyeshadow - by the way, a clear gloss is used for some makeup effects. The lid will look wet but it's a nice way to experiment with makeup or even learn the colour theory in makeup.
Where to find the product?
I told you more about the whole Lily Lolo series in a post called "Healthy makeup? It's possible with Lily Lolo", if you're living in Poland then all Lily Lolo products are available at Costasy website, if you're from a different country then search for a local seller or use the main website to shop for Lily Lolo's products.
Overall
Lily Lolo products won't stop surprising me. This blusher is a shade that I personally love but I'm aware that if you're pale then the dramatic look is not always a look we all want to go for. Still, I believe it's a product which it's good to keep in your makeup stash.
