Finding an ideal cleansing foam can be tricky, I had to deal with many cleansing foams before and the recipe for ideal cleansing foam is finding what matches your skin the best. Even during my studies, we have some conversations about cleansers and debate about Neogen Cranberry Real Fresh Foam Cleanser was probably the hardest skincare debate I had with my friends next to debate about disinfection.
My story with Neogen
Neogen is a brand which you can see a lot on my blog, by the way, can you believe that exactly 2 years ago - in January 2017 I met this brand for the first time? I ended up with pore cleanser, pore gel, sheet masks and lemon tox set which I haven't tried yet - just waiting until I'm done with all the opened pads I have - don't worry I'll review them too. What got me so obsessed with this brand is the fact that when I started my skincare I had a part-time job and the availability of good skin care was poor in my country - now you can go to Douglas and get Neogen without a problem, back then it was tricky. But what exactly got me? Technology, good ingredients and the fact that White Truffle series saved my skin year ago in January 2018 when I got my lipid barrier destroyed.
Cleansers
Finding a cleanser is tricky. Actually, I already got my favourite foams and one of them is Neogen Cica Micellar Cleansing Foam, it has pH 5,5 and that's ideal for my face but before Cica series there were Real Fresh Foam Cleanser series, a series with real ingredients inside that doesn't only look good but they also smell good and in general - it quickly became a must-have product, even one of my friends who's also a blogger told me that green tea foam helped her son with acne. This series contains 4 foams - Green Tea - ideal foam for oily and acne-prone skin, Blueberry - moisturizing foam, great for dry skin, Cereal - a big surprise but this one is a brightening foam recommended for all skin types and Cranberry foam - revitalizing foam recommended for mature skin and for everyone who wants to slow down ageing process. For me, Cranberry foam is even more exciting since Cranberry is like a national treasure you eat with a special type of cheese during the winter.
Design
The packaging design is like a big one mystery - the full pieces of fruits, tea and grains are separated from the foam. Yes, I also wanted to touch the cranberries once I'm done with this foam but I don't see that happening. The pump is easy to use and that's what is important but I do not recommend you to separate the pump because once you do this and then you add the pump again it'll start to leak - you have to do that carefully. The scent of this foam is really nice but it's not a pure cranberry scent - more like sweet but also sour cranberry scent mixed with something. It's definitely a scent which I like, it's not annoying or heavy.
What's inside the Neogen Cranberry Real Fresh Foam Cleanser?

The base of the foam is Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Water instead of pure water but that's not the only Cranberry ingredient we will find here - Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit. Cranberry is an antioxidant that works well on skin and makes it stronger. There's a huge number of antioxidants in this foam: Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Cordyceps Sinensis Extract, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Fruit Extract, Saururus Chinensis Leaf/Root Extract, Forsythia Suspensa Fruit Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Pinus Densiflora Extract, Sarcodon Aspratus Extract, Chaenomeles Sinensis Fruit Extract, Salicornia Herbacea Extract and Coptis Japonica Root Extract. There's also a huge number of moisturizers and soothing ingredients like Allantoin, Panthenol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate or Glycerin. Acne-prone skin will enjoy Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract but it might not enjoy the companionship of Myristic Acid and Lauric Acid. I can't deny, there are some PEG's, there are ingredients which vegetarians and vegans might not enjoy like Hydrolyzed Coral and there's Fragrance but overall with such number of ingredients I see here more benefits than disadvantages.
How does the cleanser works?
The most important thing for me in Neogen Cranberry Real Fresh Foam Cleanser is pH and I'm aware that pH of this foam is higher than 5,5 so I knew that there might be some problems with pH and my skin and how to balance them with toner but I'm also aware that my skin doesn't like Myristic Acid and Lauric Acid. So how did the foam worked on my skin? After a couple days I started to get more acne and the only thing I've changed was foam so I had to stop using it. During this time I didn't feel like the foam is drying, I didn't get any allergic reaction as well - even if you still should check ingredients and patch test if you suspect that you might get an allergic reaction. But I had to find a different way to use this foam because it would be sad not to use it, I already knew that I can't use it on my body but... I can wash my brushes with it and be sure that I won't get any reaction. Somehow Neogen Cranberry Real Fresh Foam Cleanser became my brush cleanser because I didn't need to spend hours on cleaning my brushes, the dirt and all the pigment got removed easily. If you plan to use this foam I recommend you to use a pH adjusting toner (pH 3.0 to about 4.2).
The cost of the foam
Neogen Cranberry Real Fresh Foam Cleanser costs $19 for 100g/5.6 oz on Sokoglam. If you check the reviews on Sokoglam, usually people with dry, normal and combo skin types go for this cleanser and the age groups are really different because you can see people in their 20's using it as well as people in 50's. If your skin is more like mine - oily or combo and acne-prone then I can recommend you different Neogen foam - Neogen Real Cica Micellar Cleansing Foam, this foam has pH 5,5, you can read the whole review here.
Neogen Real Cica Micellar Cleansing Foam Review
Overall, I can't deny, this foam is not a match for my skin but somehow it's a match for my brushes. Every skin is different and if you have dry mature skin - this foam might work better on your skin than on mine, also you can save situation with pH adjusting toner.
Have you ever tried this foam? What's your favourite cleanser?
