K-Beauty connects people, and so Jayjun! As a part of K-Beauty Cares For You Campaign, I'm testing Jayjun - a South Korean brands which you probably know from Jayjun Green Tea Eye Gel Patch or sheet masks. This brand has amazing packaging design, but also knowledge on how to make your skin stay young for a long time.
K-Beauty Cares For You Campaign
This post is a part of K-Beauty Cares For You Campaign, and I'm proud to be one of 60 influencers who take part in this action. K-Beauty Cares For You Campaign is all about the inclusivity of the Korean beauty industry, and what it brings to us. BeMused Korea did a great job in curating products which I'll introduce you, Jayjun is one of five brands that take part in K-Beauty Cares For You Campaign.
About Jayjun
It's my first time with Jayjun, even if I saw this brand before at stores and I knew, some of my friends are using Jayjun's sheet masks or eye patches. I have to admit - I had Jayjun on my wishlist for a while. Jayjun was created by a group of dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and researchers in 2015. The brand puts all effort in researching new solutions to slow down aging process and make your skin stay youthful for a long time. According to Jayjun, all products are cruelty-free.
Jayjun Green Tea Eye Gel Patch
I have to admit, Jayjun Green Tea Eye Gel Patch was on my shopping list for a long time. I'm a huge fan of green tea, and currently, I'm studying at University Of Health Sciences which means I sleep about 3 hours per day - it's not healthy, but when I have lectures I'm thankful for online mode of studies so I can put my eye patches on and just sit in front of the computer without anyone knowing about that. I'm studying cosmetology (even if I didn't have to I wanted to level up my skills), and the majority of my colleagues are doing the same during lectures as a part of self-care. Let's look at what we can find inside Jayjun Green Tea Eye Gel Patch.
Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan), Potassium Chloride, Tripropylene Glycol, Dipropylene Glycol, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Paeonia Lactiflora Root Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Polygonum Multiflorum Root Extract, Phellinus Linteus Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Sophora Angustifolia Root Extract, Cimicifuga Racemosa Root Extract, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Extract, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Pentylene Glycol, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Pinus Sylvestris Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Powder(0.2%), Saururus Chinensis Extract, Ceratonia Siliqua Gum, Sucrose, Isopropyl Alcohol, Calcium Chloride, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Cellulose Gum, Chondrus Crispus Powder, Allantoin, Adenosine, Disodium Edta, Calcium Lactate, Ethyl Hexanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Propanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, CI 77288, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Fragrance, Chlorphenesin
Water is an ingredient which you can find in almost every product. Its purpose in products is easy - it's a solvent. Glycerin is one of the most popular humectants in skincare. There's a large number of myths around glycerin like it can clog your skin. It doesn't clog your pores, but too much glycerin can make a sticky layer on the epidermis and even make your skin dryer than before due to TEWL (Transepidermal Water Loss). Still, it's an ingredient which we want to see in formulas. Butylene Glycol is a humectant and solvent, but it's also alcohol. You see, not every alcohol in skincare is terrible. Some of them have positive effects on your skin - just like Butylene Glycol, which is a popular substance even in eco/green cosmetic products. Niacinamide is a miracle ingredient. It does lots of great work. Do you have problems with dark spots? Try Niacinamide! Acne? Niacinamide will be an ideal pick for you too! Maybe you've got issues with skin barrier? Solve it with Niacinamide! Wrinkles? You might want to try Niacinamide as well. Sensitive skin might find Niacinamide bit problematic when it's mixed with Vitamin C or used in the same routine as Vitamin C. I can't deny Niacinamide is a skincare treasure! Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) or Red Edible Seaweed is a natural ingredient. It's a vegan-friendly alternative to gelatin. Brands are using Carrageenan as a thickener. That's also one of the ingredients you'll usually see in eye pads. Dipropylene Glycol is a solvent. Betaine derives from sugar beets. It's an amino acid that keeps your skin moist, and you might want to use it in your haircare routine.
Sodium Hyaluronate is a salt form of a popular Natural Moisturizing Factor - Hyaluronic Acid. Paeonia Lactiflora Root Extract brightens the skin. Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract is an ingredient which sounds a bit off. Have you ever tried Licorice candy? It was one of the worst nightmares from my childhood, but after many years I can't imagine my life without Licorice, but in skincare. Since I use British English, I usually go with word Liquorice, and in this version, it sounds like an excellent name for rice alcohol. It's a source of flavonoids, Galabridin and Glycyrrhizin. Liquorice is a herb with a long tradition of use in herbal medicine. People believe Liquorice has antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract in skincare can help you with pigmentation, and that's why I started to love Licorice. Is there anything better than brightening effect? Morus Alba Bark Extract is an antioxidant with soothing properties. I know White Mulberry as a food - but not in a bark form, White Mulberry died fruits are quite popular, and I know that people love them.
Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract - we know this herb from Traditional Chinese Medicine. Skullcap Root Extract is an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It can brighten your skin a bit. Scutellaria hides under the name Huang Qin, and it helps with inflammation and allergy. Pentylene Glycol is a humectant with antimicrobial properties. Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Powder(0.2%) is an ingredient which you can see in this formula without any problems. Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) is an antioxidant with enormous popularity and use. In skincare, we use green tea as a humectant for both dry and oily skin or as an acne treatment due to its antibacterial properties, but we can use it with mature skin too. Allantoin is a powerful ingredient in skincare, and I think we all know it since the early days. My family didn't imagine my childhood without this cream. Allantoin derives from comfrey, and it has soothing properties, but it also speeds up the healing process, which makes it ideal for acne-prone skin and sensitive skin.
Adenosine is another elegant ingredient. It speeds up the healing process and repairs the skin barrier. It's ideal for inflamed skin, and it might have a positive effect on skin elasticity. 1,2-Hexanediol is everywhere, and it's not a surprise. Even if it's a solvent, it's also a moisturizer. Propanediol is a solvent with moisturizing properties. Similar to Cyclohexasiloxane, Propylene Glycol is an ingredient that some people try to avoid. You're most likely to see Propanediol instead of Propylene Glycol in an organic skincare product, and the reason for this change is simple. Ecocert recommends it. Caprylyl Glycol is a humectant and an oily emollient. It leaves a delicate, protective film on your skin. But that's not all, Caprylyl Glycol is useful when you want to keep your product free from unfriendly stuff like microbes.
That's a large list of ingredients, but I'm surprised with Niacinamide - it's quite high, and I enjoy that. The patches itself are so nice, I didn't put them in my fridge, because we have autumn here, and I open my windows in the morning to stay awake instead of drinking too much coffee (I already had health issues related to drinking too much coffee, so be careful if you work & study at home). I don't have problems with dark circles, but my eyes feel better when I put patches in the morning - they are colder than my skin, so if I'm tired - I'm waking up immediately. We have to appreciate the texture & packaging design - all the details in texture and illustrations on the packaging makes me appreciate the patches even more.
Jayjun Collagen Skin Fit Mask
Next product is Jayjun Collagen Skin Fit Mask. This mask is recommended for dry & dull skin, but also if you have problems with skin elasticity. Collagen works more like a film ingredient because collagen molecules are too big to get through layers of the skin, that's why we use ingredients such as Vitamin C to boost collagen production, still, collagen makes a good film or we can even say the illusion of soft and flawless skin. Let's take a look at what we can find inside Jayjun Collagen Skin Fit Mask.
Essence: Water, Methylpropanediol, Glycerin, Niacinamide, Panax Ginseng Callus Culture Extract, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Sea Water, Allantoin, Betaine, Calcium Pntothenate, Beta-Glucan, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Pyridoxine HCL, Tocopheryl Acetate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxyethyl Urea, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Starch Octenylsuccinate, Maltodextrin, Ethylhexylglycerin, Silica, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance Mask: Water, Methylpropanediol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Niacinamide, Panax Ginseng Callus Culture Extract, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Sodium Hyaluronate, Ceramide 3, Squalane, Saccharomyces/Viscum Album (Mistletoe) Ferment Extract, Lactobacillus/Soybean Ferment Extract, Saccharomyces/Imperata Cylindrica Root Ferment Extract, Trehalose, Betaine, Allantoin, Butylene Glycol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Adenosine, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Diethoxyethyl Succinate, Disodium EDTA, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Phospholipids, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance
Jayjun Collagen Skin Fit Mask has two parts.
Essence:
Methylpropanediol is a solvent with antimicrobial properties. It's a synthetic ingredient that works even with the most stubborn substances. Panax Ginseng Callus Culture Extract is a Hanbang ingredient. Ginseng has a wide use - just like Mugwort, but I feel like from all herbs available, we appreciate ginseng the most. Ginseng is an antioxidant that can cost a lot, even skincare based on this ingredient might have a higher price than other skincare products. It improves blood circulation and nourishes the skin. Skincare series for mature skin bases on this powerful antioxidant and people believe that it can help with wrinkles. Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract has a typical scent - like all Star Anise ingredients and products. Star Anise Seed, also called Badian is a plant which you probably know from your kitchen, but it has a long story of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine. We use it to treat various health problems like nausea. Some brands use Star Anise as an astringent. Beta-Glucan derives from yeast, mushroom (like Chaga or shiitake), seaweed or cereals (oat, wheat, barley). I don't know why, but Beta-Glucan to me smells like wine. Beta-glucan is a stunning humectant with soothing properties. It's great for sensitive skin. Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate aka SAP is a stable form of Vitamin C which I love. It doesn't need low pH, and it works with higher values than pH 3. This antioxidant helps me a lot with pigmentation - especially if you add niacinamide, and use them both at the same time, even if this mix is not the best for sensitive skin. This form might also help with acne in small concentration.
Tocopheryl Acetate is a form of Vitamin E. It's an antioxidant with some moisturizing properties. It protects your skin from free radical damage. It supports UVB protection, but Vitamin E in the form of Tocopheryl Acetate is not as helpful as Tocopherol. Carbomer is a thickener and stabilizer. You can often see it in gel formulas. Silica is a thickener with magical properties for acne-prone and oily skin. It absorbs sebum, but at the same time, it can reflect the light to make your skin looking healthy.
Mask:
Collagen itself is a big molecule that won't easily get through the layers of the skin. Hydrolyzed Collagen is a protein derived from fish or ox. It's a good moisturizer, but don't expect too much out of it. Ceramide NP or Ceramide 3 is an ingredient which we want to see in our products. Ceramides naturally occur in human skin, and they have a dominant role. You can find them in the lipid barrier of the skin along with cholesterol and fatty acids. Ceramide is like a cement of the skin. It makes sure that your skin won't get dehydrated. Squalane is an ingredient which I believe everyone should enjoy. In nature, Squalane occurs in human sebum, and it protects the skin from dehydration. Sadly, with age, the amount of Squalane in sebum decreases. Usually, Squalane in your skincare products comes from olives or sugar cane. It's a light, stable oil with a single bond (squalENE has double bonds, and both these ingredients shouldn't be mistaken). It has no colour and scent. It's perfect for sensitive skin and dehydrated skin since it strengths the lipid barrier. It speeds up the healing process, and it won't clog your skin. Trehalose is sugar and another moisturizer in this formula. Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride - is an emollient. It's a combination of coconut oil and glycerin which makes mild, gentle and delicate emollient. It thickens the formula, but it also makes skin feel smooth in touch.
Jayjun Collagen Skin Fit Mask is something different from what I know. I barely ever see sheet masks that come with additional essence, moisturizer or serum. The mask itself is soft and fully soaked in essence. I got a smaller face, but this mask is not enormously big, it fits my skin quite well. Essence pack gives your skin lots of moisture, and so sheet mask. I was surprised by the amount of essence. I could write longs posts on how amazing this product is because it's been a while when I tested sheet masks that are really worth its price. Usually, when I'm in Poland, I buy cheaper sheet masks - some brands that are affordable in South Korea, but not in Poland. If I have to buy sheet masks, I prefer to pay more for quality - that's something people usually don't care like bioavailability of the ingredients.

Let's take a look what's inside.
Blossom Essence :
Adansonia Digitata Seed Oil or Baobab Seed Oil is a source of many nutritious substances such as Vitamin E or Vitamin A. It's a great emollient, and even acne-prone skin should enjoy it. Olea Europaea is an olive tree, the literal name means European Olive, and the name fits it well since it's a plant which you can find in the Mediterranean region of Europe, but there are other places where Olive can be found. Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil is a source of oleic acid (around 83%), linoleic acid and palmitic acid. It's a liquid oil with a long tradition. In skincare, it is used as antioxidant and emollient, it's a good moisturizer, but it can be a bit comedogenic. Still, it's an individual thing if an ingredient breaks you out or not - it can, but it doesn't mean it will.
Cananga Odorata Flower Oil or Ylang Ylang Oil has a sweet, floral scent. Cananga tree naturally grows in Polynesia, Micronesia or even in some parts of Australia. Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil is another essential oil on our list. It has antimicrobial properties. Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil should be already well known to you. It has antibacterial properties. Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil or Tea Tree Oil is my favourite, and if you have acne-prone skin. then you'll love it too. It shouldn't be used straight on your skin, it needs to be diluted. It has antibacterial and antiseptic properties just like an extract from.
Am I the only person who heard about Colostrum before, but totally forgot what is it? If you think that I remember all ingredients in every product, then I'll disappoint you - I buy books, professional magazines (not sure if such stuff exists outside Poland or not). Colostrum is nothing else than a "first milk". It is supposed to hydrate the skin and help with wrinkles and skin elasticity. Nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract also known as Sacred Lotus is a strong moisturizer, but also an ingredient with anti-bacterial properties. It's soothing, but it also speeds up the healing process.
Baby Pure Shining Mask :
Polymethylsilsesquioxane is quite an unusual ingredient. It's a powder, and it gives the skin silky finishing. Glyceryl Caprylate is an oily emollient and emulsifier. It derivates from plants, that's why it's Ecocert approves it.
Hydro Eye Cream :
Glyceryl Stearate is an ester of Glycerin and Stearic Acid. It's an emollient and emulsifier, and you can find it in oil in water formulas. It's a superb ingredient, but in some solutions, Glyceryl Stearate is problematic for me since it feels like it clogs my skin, but just because I'm not a fan of it, it doesn't mean your skin won't like it. Every skin is different. Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter has a wide range of use - people use it to prepare dishes, in medicine, but also cosmetics. It's an emollient which all skin types should love, but oily skin might have a tiny problem with it. It has a mild UV protection (around SPF 3) so it shouldn't be used as a sunscreen. It's great for dry skin and during the winter to protect the skin since it leaves a film on the surface of the skin. It's also a source of vitamins such as Vitamin E and Vitamin A. Vitellaria Paradoxa trees aka shea butter trees can be found in Africa that's why it is so important to use shea butter from brands with Fairtrade certification. Portulaca Oleracea is a succulent, and a plant used in Korean traditional medicine. It's a source of vitamin A, C and E, omega-3 acids and calcium. Portulaca Oleracea Extract is an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. It can help speed up the wound healing that's why people with acne-prone skin, sensitive skin and PIE should look up to this ingredient in products. Palmitic Acid is a fatty acid, which you can find as a compound of many oils. It's an oily emollient, but sometimes oily skin might not enjoy it. Sorbitan Sesquioleate is an emulsifier.
The previous name of Jayjun Intensive Shining Mask was Jayjun Baby Pure Shining Mask - the name baby pure fit the colour scheme of this packaging. The colours remind me of Pantone Colour of The Year 2016 - in 2016 Pantone selected two colours as a colour of the year - Rose Quartz (pink) and Serenity (blue). This mask is full of natural oils & extracts. Some of them are essential oils, so before you use this mask - I would suggest checking the ingredients (we should remember about patch test before we try new products, but how many of us do that? I guess maybe a few people do that. Just like Jayjun Collagen Skin Fit Mask - I can't say anything bad about it. I have an eye cream which I like, and I'm not a fan of changing it, but for trips - this solution seems to be better than taking many products in my bag for a trip.
Overall, Jayjun surprised me in a positive way. It made my studying a bit more comfortable - especially with Eye Patches. I didn't test these products for a month, that's why these reviews are shorter - as you know, I like to test products for at least 28 days.
