K-beauty gave us lots of new products in skincare - both professional and non-professional. One of my favourite things are patches, especially V-patches. Wooshin Labottach is a company with probably the biggest choice of patches, and I want to introduce you to a few of their products such as V-UP Patch, Morning Eye Soothing Patch, AC Thyol Intensive Care Patch, V-Chin AC Thyol Patch and Revitalization Hydrogel Eye Patch.
About Wooshin Labottach
If Wooshin Labottach is a new brand for you - don't worry, I didn't know about this brand before too. Wooshin Labottach is a South Korean company, it was established in 1992 - Wooshin Labottach is not only focused on the beauty/skincare - I was surprised that when I tried to find this brand on Google, I got lots of links to pharmacies and links to stores for estheticians - this brand makes medicines, dietary supplements, medicines and patches. You would be surprised that some of the products you probably use are based on Wooshin Labottach's patents & researches.
Hydro-Matrix Patch
There is a reason why I want to mention Hydro-Matrix Patch. I like neck patches, even if they are not so common, I'm more likely to use them now when I can't do facial treatments - although estheticians are still open (not sure how long they will since lots of EU countries are planning or they already have 2nd lockdown, I'm more likely to visit hairdresser than an esthetician because I don't like when someone touches my face or hair, but since I'm also an esthetician I trust myself with my face, but my knowledge on hair is poor (said person whose job is all about haircare). What is so different about Hydro-Matrix Patch? Regular neck patches are usually sheet mask or hydrogel masks for neck, while Hydro-Matrix Patch has a bit more complex formula - we got here three layers like film layer, hydrogel layer and fabric. Hydro-Matrix Patch fits face way better and it sticks to your face better than hydrocolloid patch.
As always we will check what's inside the products. I was able to test 5 Wooshin Labottach products, but the entire line is way wider. Wooshin Labottach sells products such as Double Chin Care Up Patch, Hemp (CBD) AC Patch, Make-Up Boosting Patch, Post-Laser Care Patch, Venolite which is a hydrogel watch to help with your legs, Nail Hydrogel Patch, Tattoo Care Patch, Breast Care Patch or even Nipple Care Patch.
Wooshin Labottach V-UP Patch
What do we know about V-Up Patch? It's a patch for your chin line aka V-line. It should help you with skin moisture and give a lifting effect. You can keep it on your face for up to 8 hours.
Caffeine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Glucosyl Ceramide, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Sodium Hyaluronate, Bioflavonoids
Who doesn't like coffee? Caffeine is an ingredient which we all assign with coffee, but even tea contains some amounts of caffeine. Caffeine is an ingredient that lots of eye care products contain, but is it as effective as everyone thinks? It improves blood circulation and it might be helpful with cellulite, but don't expect miracles. It's a good antioxidant, and it's great to have it. Tocopheryl Acetate is a form of Vitamin E. It's an antioxidant with some moisturizing properties. It protects your skin from free radical damage. It supports UVB protection, but Vitamin E in the form of Tocopheryl Acetate is not as helpful as Tocopherol. Hydrolyzed Collagen is a smaller version of collagen. In general, collagen works as film ingredient, because its molecules are too big to get through the skin layers, that's why we use Vitamin C & other ingredients to boost collagen production. Both - regular & hydrolyzed versions are great moisturizers.
Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract is an antioxidant with enormous popularity and use. You can use it as a moisturizer for both dry and oily skin or as an acne treatment due to its antibacterial properties. Maybe you fight with wrinkles, and you need support? It's an antioxidant, and it can repair your skin after the damage made by UV light (since UVA is helping your skin in aging) and free radicals. Even sensitive skin is a fan of this soothing humectant. Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil is an olive tree, the literal name means European Olive, and the name fits it well since it's a plant which you can find in the Mediterranean region of Europe, but there are other places where Olive can be found. Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil is a source of oleic acid (around 83%), linoleic acid and palmitic acid. It's a liquid oil with a long tradition. In skincare, it is used as antioxidant and emollient, it's a good moisturizer, but it can be a bit comedogenic. Still, it's an individual thing if an ingredient breaks you out or not - it can, but it doesn't mean it will.
Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil is not an oil but a wax ester. It's an emollient, and it is very similar to human sebum which makes it a great ingredient for the skin. Sodium Hyaluronate is a salt form of a popular Natural Moisturizing Factor - Hyaluronic Acid. Bioflavonoids derivates from plants like fruits & veggies, it's a big group of potential antioxidants. They can help nourish your skin.
I know this patch the best in my opinion because I put this patch on my face when I got lectures, and sit with it for 8 hours. I tried similar patches before, and usually, they are not as tight as Wooshin Labottach. V-UP Patch is elastic, but once you put it on your face, you might feel a little bit of pain because it fits your face so well. Normally, all masks are too big for me, but V-UP Patch sticks well to the face, protecting it from the environment. There's is nothing in between the patch and face. You won't mistake which side should be on your skin, because one side is fabrics and the other side is a film layer that feels similar to the hydrogel. As I said, it can be a bit painful. I tried to sleep with this patch on, but after two hours I woke up, and I just couldn't keep it longer. When I sit with it on my face for 8 hours during 12-hours of lectures - it might be a bit uncomfortable, but to be honest, I even eat with it on my face. Do V-line patches work? In my example - I think they do because my face has changed a lot since I started to do facial massages, patches and taking better care for my face. I spend lots of time working on a computer is not the best position for both my back and chin, that's why I think the only thing that saves me from double chin are v-line patches.
Wooshin Labottach Morning Eye Soothing Patch
I wanted to test Morning Eye Patch because this is the weirdest product I ever had. Hot mask for eyes was weird for me, and if you have claustrophobia, you probably had problems just like I had, but Morning Eye Soothing Patch is an ideal product for people with claustrophobia. It's a relaxing patch which you can use in the morning to reduce redness, swelling, and puffiness of the eyes. But at the same time, it's super relaxing.
Water, Glycerin, Sodium Polyacrylate, Cellulose Gum, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Aloe Vera Leaf Extract, Kaolin, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Flower/Leaf Extract, Titanium Dioxide, Tocopheryl Acetate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tartaric Acid, Aluminum Glycinate, Disodium EDTA
Water is an ingredient which you can find in almost every product. Its purpose in products is easy - it's a solvent.
Glycerin is one of the most popular humectants in skincare. There's a large number of myths around glycerin like it can clog your skin. It doesn't clog your pores, but too much glycerin can make a sticky layer on the epidermis and even make your skin dryer than before due to TEWL (Transepidermal Water Loss). Still, it's an ingredient which we want to see in formulas.
Sodium Polyacrylate is an absorbent and thickener. It does a complete work with water formulas. Cellulose Gum is a thickener. Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract is an ingredient which sounds a bit off. Have you ever tried Licorice candy? It was one of the worst nightmares from my childhood, but after many years I can't imagine my life without Licorice, but in skincare. Since I was taught British English, I usually go with word Liquorice, and in this version, it sounds like a great name for rice alcohol. It's a source of flavonoids, Galabridin and Glycyrrhizin. Liquorice is a herb with a long tradition of use in herbal medicine. People believe Liquorice has antibacterial, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract in skincare can help you with pigmentation, and that's why I started to love Licorice. Is there anything better than brightening effect? Aloe Vera Leaf Extract is a classic moisturizer with soothing properties. Some people might be allergic to aloe. My problem with aloe is that if you prepare aloe in a "wrong" way, it can sensitize the skin.
Kaolin is an ingredient which you probably know well because it's nothing else than clay! It's a great absorber, especially good for oily skin. Titanium Dioxide - is a mineral sunscreen. It protects your skin from UVB and UVA (II) radiation. Usually, Titanium Dioxide leaves a white cast on the epidermis. Many people with sensitive skin prefer to use Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide instead of organic sunscreen (organic sunscreen agents contain carbon, inorganic sunscreens aka mineral sunscreens doesn't contain carbon). Nano version of Titanium Dioxide fixes the problem with the white cast (not entirely, but you can spot the difference). You might not know that, but Titanium Dioxide is a super useful colourant and sunscreen agent. If you have melasma, you want this ingredient in your sunscreen and makeup. It gives your skin a "barrier" that protects your skin from UV radiation. It feels like 1,2-Hexanediol is everywhere, and it's not a surprise. Even if it's a solvent, it's also a moisturizer. Tartaric Acid is a weak acid which I only saw in a few products. It's an AHA organic acid that can be derived from grapes, it's mostly used to moderate sebum production and help with pigmentation. Disodium EDTA is a synthetic stabiliser and preservative. It helps with the viscosity of the product.
This is probably the weirdest patch ever, but from all patches that cover my eyes, these are my favourite because they have tiny holes that make me feel safe. Even if I started to learn that if the patch covers my eyes or any other mask covers my eyes it's okay, I'm safe. Still, I prefer to have a mask, that won't make me panic in any way. The build of this mask is similar to V-Up Patch, but this one is more comfortable - there won't be any pain, and 15 minutes with this mask on is enough. I sleep for 3-4 hours lately, and that's one of few things that saves my eyes from puffiness. It cools the skin down, and it's super good if you plan something important like a wedding, and want to make sure that your eyes won't be puffy.
Wooshin Labottach AC Thyol Intensive Care Patch
Hydrogel patches are one of my favourite products for acne-prone skin. It sucks the pimple for my skin. AC Thyol Intensive Care Patch is different from other pimple patches - it has a fabric film, it's way thicker, and it sticks better to your face - according to the brand it has a cooling effect.
Arnica Montana Extract, Zinc Citrate, Sodium Shale Oil Sulfonate, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Yeast Extract
Arnica Montana Extract is recommended for sensitive skin, especially if you have problems with visible blood vessels. Zinc Citrate is a synthetic ingredient with antifungal properties. Sodium Shale Oil Sulfonate or ichthyol pale moderates sebum production. It has anti-inflammatory properties, it can help with acne and dandruff. Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract is an exfoliant that brightens your skin. It’s popular for normal skin type and dull skin. Some companies use Grapefruit Fruit Extract in anti-aging products. Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil is an extract form of tea tree. You probably know Tea Tree as an essential oil ingredient. EO's are controversial because they are not as safe as people think. Essential oils are similar to Alcohol, some are positive and some are negative because they can cause allergic reactions and be phototoxic or photosensitive. Tea Tree Oil is a good guy, it's super helpful in curing acne. It shouldn't be used straight on your skin, it needs to be diluted. It has antibacterial and antiseptic properties just like an extract from. Yeast Extract is an antioxidant which is beneficial for skin, even if the yeast of fungus doesn't sound optimistic. When I was a teenager, yeast was a popular ingredient to fight with acne.
I have bit mixed feelings about this patch. It's different from other pimple patches I tried, but even if it fits my skin well, in some places like chin it might not fit as good as on your cheeks. It has anti-inflammatory properties so when my skin looks irritated - I go for this patch. It kinda reminds me of this funny thing which we put on chairs to protect the floor. You have to keep them for at least 4 hours that's why I recommend you to sleep with them on your skin. This patch works differently from other pimple patches so I do not recommend poking the pimple before putting this patch on.
Wooshin Labottach Revitalization Hydrogel Eye Patch
It's a hydrogel patch that helps with wrinkles. Don't get me wrong - we all have some wrinkles that are natural for our bodies, but with age, our skin loses elasticity, and new wrinkles are forming. It's better to take care of now, especially when I sleep 3-4 hours per day. Similar to V-line patch, you can keep it on your face for up to 8 hours, but Wooshin Labottach recommends to keep these patches on your skin for a minimum of 4 hours.
Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Tocopheryl Acetate, Bioflavonoids
The Hydrolyzed Collagen used by Wooshin Labottach is Fish collagen.
Similar to AC Thyol Intensive Care Patch we have to keep them for at least 4 hours. I always forget about putting them for longer than 2 hours. If you use eye patches you'll feel huge difference. These patches are not as cooling as regular hydrogel patches, but they won't move from your skin even if your eyes do lots of movements. I feel them on my skin, but they are not sliding. I recommend to use them at night - it's better to keep them for 8 hours on your face for better results. If you want to lift the area around your eyes - go for them, you'll love them just like I do. There's no "slime" dropping from them, you can easily work with them on, and at the same time focus on eye care.
Wooshin Labottach V-Chin AC Thyol Patch
This product is something every person with acne needs! Mix V-chin patch and acne patches together. What will you get? V-Chin AC Thyol Patch! It's a patch which you can keep on your face for 8 hours and it won't only model your V-line, but also take care of your acne.
Saccharomyces/Zinc Ferment, Arnica Montana Flower Extract, Sodium Shale Oil Sulfonate, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Lysine, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil
Saccharomyces/Zinc Ferment is a fermented version of zinc. Lysine is an amino acid. It makes your skin stronger.
This is an upgraded version of V-UP Patch for acne-prone skin. I had similar problems with V-UP Patch just like I have with this one - I can't sleep with this mask on, even if I should wear it for 8 hours, during the day it might be bit painful, but when my acne strikes back there's no better thing. Instead of sticking small patches to each pimple, I just put a big patch on my chin, and then magic happens. Isn't that more comfortable? And it's more economic.
Overall, the patches are so different from what I tried before, but I feel positive about them because the fit of the mask is a key to success. As you can see ingredients here are different from what you usually see on the packaging, and I guess the reason is that Wooshin Labottach also creates medicines and medicines has different rules for ingredients.
