Goodal is one of the K-beauty brands which I wanted to try for a long time. Still, I think it's quite an unknown brand - at least in Europe. Goodal Moist Synergy Duo Mask Peeling + Moisturizing is a duo product, which I couldn't say no to test it. I barely ever see duo products that can do more than one function. When you live in a small space or travel a lot of products like this are handy but are they worth a try?

The plastic box around Goodal Moist Synergy Duo Mask is something I'm no fan of even if it's see-through, but the jar itself is great. It's hard for me to open the moisturizing part, but overall, I like the idea of two containers in one product. They are quite small, so don't expect a lot, but I have to say I enjoy this solution because it saves me some space.
Goodal Moist Synergy Duo Mask Peeling + Moisturizing - Texture & Scent
We got here two, totally different textures. The peeling is in a solid-state, it looks like a calm lake or even more like a lake in the winter when we got the sub-zero temperature. But once you put a spatula in it, it turns into mild, but bit chewy texture. The temperature of my fingers are melting the formula, once you start to spread it on the skin, it turns into tiny bits - typical for enzyme peels. The second texture is something between gel and cream, you can feel this product is based on glycerin, because when glycerin is dominating in the formula - it automatically looks differently. The formula itself looks white and shiny, it reminds me of water.

1STEP(PEELING):
Ethylhexyl Palmitate and PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate work as emollients. Cetyl Ethylhexanoate is an oily emollient ester. It's a synthetic substance used in skincare and haircare products to protect both hair and skin from water loss and soften the skin. Bambusa Arundinacea Stem Powder is an absorbent. Polyethylene helps with the texture of the product. PEG-10 Isostearate is a surfactant. Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract is a moisturizer and mild exfoliator. Diisostearyl Malate is an emollient used in makeup. Tocopheryl Acetate is a form of Vitamin E and an antioxidant with some moisturizing properties. It protects your skin from free radical damage. It supports UVB protection, but Vitamin E in the form of Tocopheryl Acetate is not as helpful as Tocopherol. Lactic Acid is an AHA acid, it's a mild exfoliant, in a concentration less than 10% it's a good moisturizer. Water is an ingredient which you can find in almost every product. Its purpose in products is easy - it's a solvent. Butylene Glycol is a moisturizer and solvent, but it's also alcohol. You see, not every alcohol in skincare is terrible. Some of them have positive effects on your skin - just like Butylene Glycol, which is a popular substance even in eco/green cosmetic products.
It feels like 1,2-Hexanediol is everywhere, and it's not a surprise. Even if it's a solvent, it's also a moisturizer.
Caprylyl Glycol is a moisturizer and an oily emollient. It leaves a delicate, protective film on your skin. But that's not all, Caprylyl Glycol is useful when you want to keep your product free from unfriendly stuff like microbes.
Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891) is a mineral sunscreen. It protects your skin from UVB and UVA (II) radiation. Usually, Titanium Dioxide leaves a white cast on the epidermis. Many people with sensitive skin prefer to use Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide instead of organic sunscreen (organic sunscreen agents contain carbon, inorganic sunscreens aka mineral sunscreens doesn't contain carbon). Nano version of Titanium Dioxide fixes the problem with the white cast (not entirely, but you can spot the difference). You might not know that, but Titanium Dioxide is a super useful colourant and sunscreen agent. If you have melasma, you want this ingredient in your sunscreen and makeup. It gives your skin a "barrier" that protects your skin from UV radiation.
2STEP(MOISTURIZING):
Glycerin is one of the most popular humectants in skincare. There's a large number of myths around glycerin like it can clog your skin. It doesn't clog your pores, but too much glycerin can make a sticky layer on the epidermis and even make your skin dryer than before due to TEWL (Transepidermal Water Loss). Still, it's an ingredient which we want to see in formulas. Phenyl Trimethicone is another silicone and an emollient. It gives you a smooth, silky finishing and it's quite easy to remove with a cleanser. Diglycerin is not the same as Glycerin, but it's also a humectant. Chondrus Crispus Extract is a red algae, this ingredient, in general, has a positive effect on the moisture of the skin. Saccharum Officinarum (Sugarcane) Extract has moisturizing properties. Saccharum Officinarum is used to produce sugar and this species is typical for New Guinea. It has other property which you might like, I know Sugar Cane mostly as a brightening ingredient.
Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil is an essential oil, it gives a scent to the product. Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil is similar to Lemon Oil, but Lavender has antimicrobial properties. Cananga Odorata Flower Oil or Ylang Ylang Essential Oil and just like Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil they give scent to the formula. PEG-240/HDI Copolymer Bis-Decyltetradeceth-20 Ether has a long name, but simple function - it makes the texture of the product. Hydroxyacetophenone is a preservative. Caprylyl Glycol is a moisturizer and an oily emollient. It leaves a delicate, protective film on your skin. Panthenol is nothing else than Pro-vitamin B5, a soothing moisturizer with positive meaning to the skin barrier. It speeds up the healing process. Potassium Laurate is an emulsifier. Tocopherol or Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant. It's a water-soluble ingredient. Some people think it's a natural preservative, but Tocopherol itself in formulas is not the best to preserve the product. It boosts UVB protection, and if you add Vitamin C - you'll get better effects of both vitamins.
Madecassoside is an active compound of K-beauty famous Centella Asiatica. It is not a surprise why Madecassoside, as well as Gotu Kola, are so common in skincare - they have wound healing properties. The boosts healing process which makes them ideal for acne-prone, sensitive or inflamed skin. Madecassoside is an antioxidant which you have to try! Carbomer is a thickener and stabilizer. You can often see it in gel formulas. Disodium EDTA is a synthetic stabiliser and preservative. It helps with the viscosity of the product.
How does the Goodal Moist Synergy Duo Mask Peeling + Moisturizing work?
The idea of two containers in one product is brilliant, but it's different from what Axisy or Neogen presented. Instead of sharing one container, we have two jars. The peeling part was interesting because I've never seen a thick scrub. It reminds me of wax, but once you use a spatula and apply the formula onto your skin, it feels different. It's not a solid peel anymore, it's a creamy formula which reminds me a lot of enzyme peel. Once you start to smudge the scrub onto the skin, it starts to melt and turns into tiny bits which gives you an illusion of peeled skin, while in fact, it's just a product, but it doesn't mean that your dead skin cells are not removed! There are plenty of scrubs at stores that have a gentle action - they are based on enzymes or AHA/PHA acids in low concentration. They are super useful when you have rosacea, sensitive skin or visible blood vessels on the skin. I enjoyed this peel a lot even if for my skin, it's a bit too weak. Moisturizer part is a different story, it's a light, hydrating formula which I use instead of using any other moisturizer. It's just pure love! The glycerin in this formula does its magic. I hate when people say that glycerin is bad for your skin - it's not, and clogging related to glycerin is very rare, I know people who use too much glycerin and got their skin dehydrated, but clogging? This formula was especially good for summer, but only & mixed skin should enjoy it during the winter days as well. To be honest, this formula doesn't remind me of any other product - besides some formulas we did during cosmetic chemistry classes. The only problem with Goodal Moist Synergy Duo Mask Peeling + Moisturizing is the size of the containers - they are quite small, but ideal for travelling or when you forget about skincare a lot.
