Are you a fan of green tea? What about adding some tea to your beauty stash? Green tea is quite a common ingredient in skincare. But why? It's a powerful antioxidant and source of nourishing substances that fits all skin types. Can we find affordable skincare products with Green Tea for all skin types?
The beginning of the tea
You would be surprised to hear that just like in Greece where lots of things come with their origins from myths, tea isn't different. Shennong is a Chinese mythical emperor. He's the father of many inventions in agriculture. Just like every legend, even origins of the tea has a various version, but there's one thing that is common for all. Shennong liked to drink boiled tea, one day a tea leaf fell into his water and turned pure water into a brown, refreshing drink. The first records of tea come from the 3rd century BCE.
Why should you choose green tea in skincare?
I believe that green tea has a positive meaning not only in skincare. I like to drink a cup of green tea or eat some matcha dessert. Green tea is an antioxidant and source of catechins, especially epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) - this ingredient has calming properties, it's especially good to treat PIE and acne-prone skin. It's one of the most researched ingredients, and all skin types can use it. It's soothing, and it helps with acne and inflammation. After all, Green tea is an antioxidant - it fights free radicals that cause DNA damage and makes our skin "mature" too early.
By Wishtrend Green Tea & Enzyme Powder Wash
Recommended for skin types: Normal to Oily
Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Lysine HCL, Proline, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Acetyl Methionine, Theanine, Carica Papaya (Papaya) Fruit Extract, Sorbitol, Papain, Betaine, Cellulose Gum, Citric Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate
A combination of powder wash and Papain, an enzyme wash derived from Papaya. I'm a fan of both - Papain and Green Tea. I tested this powder wash when it came out, and I recommend you check it if you have oily skin. This wash is a safer option than using scrubs with tiny pieces of nuts or oats.

I haven't tried this cleansing foam, even if it was (and still is!) very tempting. Sadly, this series of foam cleansers from Neogen has higher pH than my skin can accept. That's why if your skin gets more acne after using some cleansing products like this one, I would recommend choosing another cleanser from Neogen - Cica Foam Cleanser. You can find the review on Kherblog.
It's Skin Green Tea Calming Cleansing Oil
Recommended for skin types: All skin types
Ingredients: Mineral Oil, Cetyl Caprylate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Polysorbate 20, Water, Fragrance, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract
It's a cheap cleansing oil with a simple formula. Some people might not enjoy the use of mineral oil and grapefruit extract. It's an emulsifying oil cleanser to remove makeup and dirt from your skin. I have to admit I might buy it next time since it's as inexpensive as Nivea's Cleansing Oils.
Benton Deep Green Tea Cleansing Foam
Recommended for skin types: Oily & Sensitive
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Myristic Acid, Glycerin, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Water (10%), Lauric Acid, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Sorbitan Olivate, 1,2- Hexanediol, Polyquaternium-10, Camellia Japonica (Japanese Camellia) Seed Oil, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Centella Asiatica (Centella Asiatica) Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Salix Nigra (Willow) Bark Extract, Panthenol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Houttuynia Cordata (Heartleaf) Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Seed Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Root Extract, Caprylyl Glycol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Capric Acid, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Allantoin
I guess we all know Benton, I haven't tried this cleansing foam, but the Honest Cleansing Foam had higher pH. It made me a bit scared of trying Green Tea one. Willow Extract, Heartleaf and Green sound like the most ultimate natural blend for oily skin.
Tonymoly The Chok Chok Green Tea Intense Cream

My best friend enjoyed this moisturizer a lot, while my experience is a bit mixed. It's a moisturizer that you can find at a budget price - especially if you search for Chok Chok sets, but in my case, I would spend more and choose something that works a bit stronger if I need lots of hydration. If you search for a gift - Chok Chok sets are a fine choice.

The formula might not be impressive since this product contains fragrance, but Green Tea + fermented ingredients sound like a perfect way to boost your microbiome.

COSRX and Green Tea Cream? It exists! Although I don't think this cream became as popular as Centella cream from COSRX or Ceramide cream, this formula should be great for summertime.
