Water hides in cosmetic products under names such as Aqua or Eau. It's a solvent, but it's not your regular drinking water. Water in skin care needs to fit some standards. It should be clean and free from minerals, microorganisms or other substances. Usually, water makes up the majority of the content of the product. Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is a biodegradable surfactant. What's interesting about this surfactant - it's responsible for creating bubbles. Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate is derived from fatty acids. Glycerin or Glycerol is a humectant. Its origin can be natural or synthetic - depending on the product. It protects TEWL (transepidermal water loss) and naturally occurs in the skin. It's one of the NMFs - natural moisturizing factors. It's practical in hair care. Glycerin won't clog your skin or irritate it just the opposite - it protects your skin from irritation. Usually, when we see any alcohol, we suspect the worst. You shouldn't be scared of Stearyl Alcohol - it's an oily emollient. It leaves a protective film on your skin, It works as an emulsifier too. Glyceryl Stearate is an emollient with emulsifying properties. Lauryl Betaine is a delicate surfactant responsible for bubbles. It has antistatic properties, but it can be also used as an emulsifier. Coconut Acid is an emollient that makes products last longer. Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate is an anionic surfactant. It's derived from coconut and it's a delicate substance used in cleansers. Butylene Glycol is a common ingredient in products. It's not only a solvent. We use butylene glycol because it helps with the penetration of active ingredients, protects products from drying and moisturizes skin and hair. This ingredient can prevent hair loss and make your hair stronger. Sodium Isethionate is a water-soluble surfactant. It has antistatic properties which makes it great for hair care. Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Seed Extract is an antioxidant with many positive aspects for the skin. Green tea provides flavonoids and vitamin C. It fights acne and helps with PIE (post-acne erythema) because of EGCG. The green tea seed extract is a good humectant. Quillaja Saponaria Bark Extract is a natural surfactant. Candida Bombicola/Glucose/Methyl Rapeseedate Ferment moderates sebum production and has antimicrobial properties. Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Flower Extract is an anti-inflammatory ingredient. Even in traditional medicine evening primrose has a wide use. It's rich in gamma-linoleic acid (omega-6 fatty acid).
Pinus Palustris Leaf Extract is an extract obtained from needles of longleaf pine. It's a source of saccharides, saponin and tannin. It has antimicrobial properties, but in hair care, it can help with hair loss and hair growth. Pueraria Thunbergiana Root Extract or Kudzu Root Extract has anti-inflammatory properties. Coco-Glucoside is a non-ionic surfactant and oil-in-water emulsifier. Salicylic Acid is a beta hydroxy acid (BHA). It's an exfoliant with keratolytic properties. It normalizes the keratinization process. This acid doesn't only work on the surface of the skin like AHAs, but it goes deep into pores. It might have anti-inflammatory properties, but we know that acne-prone skin loves it. If you have problems with ingrowths or keratosis pilaris then salicylic acid is an ingredient for you. Sodium Phytate is a chelating agent derived from corn. It neutralizes the ions in the products to make sure your product stays fresh a bit longer. 1,2-Hexanediol is a synthetic solvent and preservative - it protects products from microorganisms by boosting other preservatives. At the same time, it can moisturize the skin, and it has no unpleasant effects on your epidermis. Citric acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) - a delicate exfoliant and a buffering ingredient. It adjusts the pH of the formula. Epigallocatechin Gallate or EGCG is a powerful antioxidant derived from green tea. It's a catechin used in both: skincare & supplements. There is also information that Gluconolactone might be a potent antioxidant. In haircare, Gluconolactone helps with the scalp but also adds moisture to the hair. Lactic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid. It's a natural moisturizing factor with exfoliating properties - the right pH and concentration of this peel have an important meaning in how it will act on the skin. Methylpropanediol is a solvent with antimicrobial properties. Dipropylene Glycol is a solvent with moisturizing properties. Pentylene Glycol is mostly a solvent and stabilizer, but it has great moisturizing properties. Octanediol reduces crystallization in the products. Ethylhexylglycerin is a preservative with subtle moisturizing and antimicrobial properties.
How does The onleaf Blemish Vegan Low PH Cleanser work?
The onleaf Blemish Vegan Low PH Cleanser is a cleanser recommended for sensitive, acne-prone skin. The texture is creamy and a small amount is enough. A small amount is enough, so this toner is not expensive in comparison to how long it lasts. It does a good job with cleansing, the skin is free from sebum, but you have to follow it with toner otherwise it might feel squeaky clean. At least, I feel like I need additional hydration after this toner since it's cleaning my skin so well. It didn't reduce redness on my skin, but it didn't sensitize me. The foam created by this cleanser combined with water isn't spectacular but it's enough to cleanse the skin. Still, this cleanser does what it is supposed to be and I appreciate that.

Portulaca Oleracea Extract is a source of polysaccharides, flavonoids, betaxanthins, betacyanins and glutathione. It's one of the plants used in Korean traditional medicine, but in skincare, this antioxidant has soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. Centella Asiatica Extract is probably the most popular extract in skincare. It comes under a few names - Asiatic pennywort, tiger grass or Gotu kola. Centella Asiatica's roots are in Ayurveda. How does The onleaf Vegan Heartleaf PHA Toner work?
It's a delicate exfoliating toner based on PHA. I do use it with retinol, but I'm a trained professional and PHA in low concentrations has a moisturizing effect. Still, if you're new to retinol I would advise you to stick to not experimenting with too many actives at the same time. It's a liquid toner and in this case, since it contains PHA I would recommend using it with a cotton pad. I'm not a big fan of toners and making reviews of them usually makes me bored since many toners are similar, but this one is awesome if you don't want to add stronger exfoliant but you want to add moisture to the skin and gently help your skin with the natural process of exfoliation. It didn't cause me any redness and it's an economic option.

How does The onleaf Vegan Greenery Repair Cica Watery Gel Cream work?
Right now we are in the winter mode, but during summer and autumn, The onleaf Vegan Greenery Repair Cica Watery Gel Cream worked perfectly! It contains 5-cicatrix complex (Centella Extract, Madecassoside, Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid & Madecassic Acid). It's a lightweight cream suitable for sensitive skin including rosacea. It's moisturizing and for spring to autumn it works perfectly, but during winter time I need something more rich. Still, if you want one product from The onleaf then go for this cream first! It's the first product I started to use from the onleaf and I ran out of it first as well, but still, it's a good moisturizer, worth a try.
